If you are happy with your current categories and page layout, consider just continuing with your current database. This will give you the ability to compare last year versus this year in the Budget Dashboard.
You can add new categories using Setup Categories
You can adjust the page layout using Setup Categories
You can export a new budget template and import your new year budgets.
If you want to make significant changes to your categories, then last year really won’t be comparable to this year and you can start with a new database.
You can export your last year’s summary data, re-assign it to your current categories using Excel or a similiar spreadsheet program, and then import that history back into your new database. See Importing Historical Data.
